greetings for all things new
       ...new beginnings, again, once again.

Picture

Be fully present.
Feel your heart.
And encourage the next moment
Without an agenda.

This world, absolutely pure.
As is.  Behind the fear,
Vulnerability.  Behind that,
Sadness, then compassion.
And behind that,
The vast sky.

seasonal transformation

When I arrived back here in Duluth 13 years past, the quarterly shift in my surrounding landscape provided me with a lens for reflection.  Each opportunity allowing me to identify with a new burgeoning season.  Recalling the crisp newness of the prior season while bedding down its passing coincidentally excites and calms me.  The waters of Lake Superior, alone, transform hourly, daily, seasonally and fill us all with pensive wonder for its vastness.  A continued sense of gratitude, tranquility and joy lays in this peaceful area we call home.

“There is no more perfect moment than this.”
– Walt Whitman

He knew what he did speak!  As this new year rolls in,  take a moment to create a sense of thankfulness and purpose in your daily living.  Deliberately express both your joys and sadnesses to others with enthusiasm.   Reach into each day as you experience all that is new to you.  The most rewarding  “moments” will arrive quietly.  They will walk past you.  They will whisper.  They will serve  you well.  Enjoy all that surrounds you.

I wish to thank all who supported Grace Press Design in 2011!  My customers continue to inspire and move my business forward.  This past year was a challenging and transitional year.  Both inventory and purchase opportunity were low as I placed my energies into other endeavors.  2012 will find the business in transition once again.  However, you will find plenty of new product and paper goods to purchase and share.

Peace to all.

Wishing you all the abundance of spring!  After a  long winter of travel and family tending, I am getting back to the business of card making.  Inspiration from this spring season provides for “Impact,” “Reflection” and “New Beginnings” as the themes for the 2010 season.  Busy collecting remarkable quotes from history and current thought,  I have paired  provocative words with suitable artwork.  Along with the never-ending reminders for “Sustainability” (2009) and “Reasonable Consumption” (2009), these cards continue to support our collective efforts in creating our own sense of belonging.  I am looking forward to these new offerings from Grace Press Design.  As the Song of Solomon suggests,

“the time of the singing birds is come.”

Blessed are us all.
Peace and Joy.

Finding time to connect with others through written word  has been on my mind lately.  Preparation for writing can be provoking   to this experience.  At times, as we think of how nice it will be to slow down long enough to write a note to a friend, we often dismiss as a luxury.   One suggestion I can lend is to combine this with your daily tea break or even while you enjoy your meal.  Cards and notes on hand (as well as pretty postage stamps) will provide the inspiration.  Set out the notes you intend to write that day and glance at them as you pass by.  You soon will surprise yourself at the fluidity of your words.   As the daylight in our northern communities shades us with amber glow this month, join me in embracing the mood of gratefulness.

GOODNESS in the HEARTS of people

bring BEAUTY to the SOUL of the world.

-Charles Thorsen

When we write a note to a friend for a good deed we are reminded of the value of receiving graciously and giving thanks.  So often we are neglectful of thanking those in our lives who help make our life better.  Finding time throughout our busy days is most rewarding.  As we pattern our day around a mindful respite, we will find the necessity to fill these moments with simple, thoughtful prose.  One way to guarantee this time every day is to have some cards and notes “on hand” as I am often told.  So, stop by, email or call to keep your sachet up to date with inspirational cards for sending.  You will soon see the personal rewards of this habit.  Send thanks!  It feels good.
